Tang, nobody really cares what went wrong in your monastery
a quarter century ago. Whatever it was, it probably did you
good.

When you go on one of your endless, futile, disruptive jihads
against Tibetan Buddhism, anyone with a brain naturally wonders
about the real nature of your complaint.

I have strong feelings about all organizations, including
religions, corporations, political parties, armies, and will
occasionally rant about one or more of them. But the single-

Tibetan Buddhism makes one wonder what the engine of such a

Well, I'm sure that they all dream about you, one way or the other.
It seems that your boss acted irresponsibly and you might have
been more careful. But since the image was once public, and you didn't
protest, I don't know if there's much that can be done about its
distribution at this point.

I think you oughta get legal advice on this important subject.

However, the ethics of sending it (and who knows what other personal
information about you) to people via unsolicited email are despicable
in the extreme - tactics that appear to have continued "for a LONG
time".

Unless Jen or others identify the distributor as Evelyn, the
evidence (of her 'campaign') is still only circumstantial.
Ananda also received the picture - perhaps (s)he will reveal where it
came from and the circumstances under which (s)he received it.
Whether one of the recipients will have the integrity to expose
the source is the next question.

Wow! This is serious, isn't it!

To me, George, most matters of ethics are
'serious' since they involve trust as well as
integrity.

I agree.

Quote:
I'm sure that by now, everyone has some
suspicions in the case of the threats to Tang a
while back that actually involved his employer.
The entire purpose of the exercise was to harm him
for his criticism of the Tibetan religion. As you
know, Evelyn also believ(s/ed) that Tang was
'stalking' her.

Since Evelyn is a sincere, practicing Buddhist, who
has vowed to follow the Noble Eightfold Way,
she has committed herself to right speech and will
not lie. So let's just ask her.

Evelyn, did you (or at your urging someone else)
contact Tang Huyen's Employer to complain about
his words or actions?

Quote:
The case remains unsolved for lack of
substantial evidence (the actual email
to his employer or someone producing
another subversive email). But the various bits
of circumstantial evidence are available and
have been posted here before.

Though slow, the game is still in progress,
and though not obvious, current.

It would be best to move on. Since Tang still
works at B.U., perhaps the greatest harm
has been to the atmosphere of these news-
groups. I for one take the vow that I will
always confine my disagreements strictly to
my posts to the newsgroups. (That has al-
so been my entire past behavior.)

It was a shameless sales pitch. :)

I wish that I could have helped. When Tang
publishes his work perhaps the book editor
can get a photo of Tang from Evelyn for the
book jacket.

Isn't a photograph of someone a form and
therefore an aggregate? Shouldn't a well-
educated Buddhist shun the taking of pho-
tographs, the copying of photographs, and
the dissemination of photographs? Why is
Evelyn Ruut, a grooved-in Tibetan Buddhist,
clinging to an aggregate of form?

Notice that Tang evinces the right attitude
toward his form: he is passing indifferent to
the taking of his photograph. He is dispas-
sionate toward a transient image of his form,
to this mere aggregate.
